Dear HAVEN supporters, We want to give another quick apology for our payment error last week. Like we previously stated, it was a technical error on our side. Thank you to everyone for being patient and understanding through this glitch. We realize you are all anxious to get your HAVEN locks and we are working hard to get you the highest quality product possible as soon as we can. We’ve been working so hard that we haven’t given you an update in awhile. So here is where things stand right now. We’re holding off on taking payment for your pre-orders...
The October issue of Popular Mechanics has an entire section dedicated to the future of the American home. The section covers everything from cameras to guns to toilets and even, you guessed it, locks. HAVEN is featured in the article, “Is the House Key Doomed?” Get highlights from the article below. “Locks are as much about portraying security as they are about actually keeping people out. That might be why smart locks are taking off. They are mainly about convenience… But for the most part, they don’t necessarily improve the cylinder or the overall security of your door.” “One exception...
According to recent reports, approximately 2,000,000 burglaries are reported each year in the United States with the highest percentage occurring during the summer months. With all of the traveling and activities that come with the summer, break ins can and will happen. To insure that this does not happen, we have compiled a list of 7 easy things you can do to make your home a safe haven. 1. Get to Know Your Neighbors While on vacation, have your neighbors pick up your newspapers and mail. In doing this, it makes it look like you are still around to collect it. Also...
As of this week, HAVEN has officially partnered with Arciplex. This partnership promises to bring the expertise of Arciplex in engineering and testing to HAVEN’s production process. Arciplex is a father and son Nashville based company that works with entrepreneurs and innovators to engineer and produce custom products on enterprise levels. Mike Haarlander of Arciplex stated, “As we engaged in this new partnership with HAVEN we became clear about a few key items. First, was their commitment to delivering when they promised, and second that the quality needs to exceed the customer's expectations. We, Arciplex are committed to providing the...
Being that we are a newcomer to the security space, we know the statistics. 1 out of every 36 homes will experience a break in. It happens approximately every 13 seconds in the United States. Many of our customers have written us to describe their break-in. But when it happens to our very own, it really gets personal. Sean Patton joined the HAVEN team 4 weeks ago, and this past weekend his home was broken into. Luckily he wasn’t home and his dog Java is okay. Unfortunately all HAVEN prototypes are being used for testing and product development. We are...
If you have a smart lock already, you may have noticed that constantly changing the batteries is a hassle. Due to smaller designs, other locks focused at the deadbolt can’t pack in the power. HAVEN is 30 inches long and we have plenty of room to load it down with power. The HAVEN lock will use a rechargeable 3.7V, 5000MAH Lipo battery as the main power source. It will have 2, alkaline, AAA batteries as backup. The rechargeable battery is good for 350+ charge cycles. The Lipo battery will need to be periodically recharged with the supplied, 5Vdc charging adapter....
Before committing to buy, please use this test to determine if HAVEN will work on your door.
1. Your door opens inward.
Currently HAVEN will only work on doors that open inward, into the home. We do not currently support any doors that open to the exterior.
2. The Nickel Test
HAVEN is 0.8 inches high and should fit in the clearance path of most modern doors. A standard USD Nickel can be used to gauge the gap perfectly. Take a nickel, stand it on its end and make sure that it can pass under your door.
3. My floor will work with HAVEN.
HAVEN will need to sit firmly on a hard/clean surface: wood, vinyl, linoleum, ceramic tile, or concrete are all likely compatible.
Your door needs adjustment.
If you are into doing things yourself, check out our install guide for details on how to get your door ready for Haven.
Haven can work on a variety of different floor types. As long as Haven can be firmly secured to the subfloor, Haven will be fully functional. Ideally, the installation screws will be drilled at least one inch into the subfloor. Different floors may need different tools for installation.
If you are into doing things yourself, check out our install guide for options on how to get your floor ready for HAVEN.
Congratulations! You have passed the compatibility test!
Your door and/or floor may need some tweaking, but in most cases adjustments can be made to make HAVEN work for you. Please consult our install guide for more detailed information about installing HAVEN.
