Step 2: Read our short narrative and identify which code edition (and organization) is adopted locally.

Step 3: View relevant sections and see how the Haven Lockdown system complies.

Note: Some jurisdictions adopt older editions.

Always confirm with your local authority.

These codes are adopted and enforced at the state, county, or city level, and apply to both new construction and existing buildings.

Step 1: Visit www.nfpa.org

Step 2: Click “For Professionals” > “List of Codes and Standards”

Step 3: Select NFPA 1 Fire Code

Step 4: Choose edition (e.g., 2024) and click “View Free Access”

Step 5: (e.g.) Look up Section 14.5.2.2 – Locks

Step 2: Navigate to the “Codes” tab

Step 3: Choose your edition (e.g., 2024)

Step 4: Select the appropriate code (e.g., IFC)

Step 5: (e.g.) Look under Chapter 10 – Means of Egress

  • ICC and NFPA publish new editions every 3 years
  • Local jurisdictions may:
    ◦ Adopt the latest edition
    ◦ Use older versions (e.g., 2012 or 2018)
    ◦ Make local amendments

We update this site regularly as jurisdictions change their adopted editions.
